Ryosuke Suho
Violin
Born in 1995, Ryosuke Suho won 1st prize at the Kloster Schontal International Violin Competition in 2009, and also received the Virtuoso Award and the EMCY Prize, which is presented to the best performer in all categories. At the 4th David Oistrakh International Violin Competition in 2010, he won 1st prize and received the Sponsorship Award. At the Tokyo Music Competition for String Instruments in 2011, he won 1st prize and received the Audience Award and in 2012, he won 2nd prize and received the Audience Award at the 81st Japan Music Competition. In 2016, he was a prizewinner at the 15th Henryk Wieniaski International Violin Competition where he also received the Special Jury Award. In addition, he received the prestigious IMA Music Award, the 25th Idemitsu Music Award, the 25th Aoyama Music Award for outstanding musicianship, and an encouragement award at the Osaka Cultural Festival. At the age of 12, he performed with the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. When he was 15, he was invited by the Young Prague Music Festival to perform with the Prague Chamber Orchestra, which marked his debut performance in Europe. He then went on to perform not only with major orchestras in Japan but also renowned international orchestras such as the Orchestra de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestra Philharmonic de Radio France, and Orchestre de l’Opera National de Paris. He was also invited to perform at the St. Petersburg Music House as the very first Asian violinist in 2014, and his performance with the St. Petersburg Music Academy Orchestra was well reviewed overseas as well. In 2017, he released his first album “Souvenir” on Octavia Records. He studied under Maxim Vengerov at the International Menuhin Music Academy. He is a recipient of the 46th Ezoe Memorial Foundation scholarship for 2017/2018. He plays a 1678 Nicolo Amati on a generous loan from NPO Yellow Angel.
