Ju-Young Baek
Violin
Korean violinist Ju-Young Baek won the 2000 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, one of many impressive awards that also include a top prize in the 2001 Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition in Belgium, First Prize in the 1997 International Dong-A Violin Competition in Korea, and First Prize in the Philadelphia Orchestra Young Artists Competition, which led to a solo appearance with that orchestra. She was presented by Young Concert Artists in her New York concerto debut with the New York Chamber Symphony conducted by Gerard Schwarz at Lincoln Center, and has also made solo appearances with the London Philharmonic, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra at Suntory Hall.
Also a sought-after chamber musician, Ms. she has performed at the festivals of Marlboro, Ravinia, and Bridgehampton as well as at Juilliard’s FOCUS! Festival, the Salzburg Summer Music Festival, the Rencontres Musicales Festival in Evian, France, and at the Kusatsu International Music Festival in Japan.
she studied at the Curtis Institute with Aaron Rosand, at The Juilliard School with Robert Mann, and the Manhattan School of Music with Lucie Robert, as well as the Conservatoire Nationale Superieur de Musique in Paris with YCA Alumnus violinist and conductor Jean-Jacques Kantorow. In 2005 she was appointed to the faculty of the prestigious Seoul National University, making her the youngest violin faculty member in its history.
