Kohei Yamamoto
Born in Tottori. After completing a course specializing in the clarinet at the Music department of Tokyo Gakugei University, he entered the Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Vocal Music, majoring as a Bass. After shifting to tenor, he graduated with top honors. In 2012, he completed his doctoral course at the Graduate School of Music of the same university, majoring in opera and again graduating with top honors. Other achievements include placing first in the Milano Prize division of the Concorso Di Lirica Italiano in 2008 and winning first prize, as well as the award for Best Original Song at the Japan-Italy Vocal Concorso in 2009. In 2010, he was granted the Energia Prize, followed in 2011 by the 1st Overseas Study Mai Mutoh Scholarship to study in Italy. There he completed the Biennio Vocal Music Course at the Milano Verdi Music Conservatory. Studied under Tasuku Naono, Alberto Cupido and Akiko Kuroda. Member of Nikikai.
