CONCERT

CHANEL Pygmalion Days
NEXT MOVEMENT Tatsuki Sasanuma & Isana Akita
Duo Concert

2025.9.5 FRI

INTRODUCTION

The founder of CHANEL, Gabrielle Chanel, is said to have been a “Pygmalion”. She supported Pablo Picasso, Igor Stravinsky, Raymond Radiguet, Luchino Visconti and Jean Cocteau. The word “Pygmalion” derives from Greek mythology, meaning a person who believes in, supports and develops talented artists.

CHANEL Pygmalion Days, based on such a spirit, is a concert series presenting artists selected annually to perform five concerts in a year at CHANEL Nexus Hall. In this series, which marks our 21st, 91 musicians gained vital experience as performing artists.

CHANEL Nexus Hall will further enhance its support for artists. The new concert series ‘NEXT MOVEMENT,’ launching now, aims to provide musicians who have performed at ‘CHANEL Pygmalion Days’ and are now active on a leading edge with a place for new challenges and free-form art. We hope this program will catalyze their further endeavors.

The first performance in this series is a duo concert featuring cellist Tatsuki Sasanuma and classical guitarist Isana Akita. Tatsuki Sasanuma has been active in a wide range of fields, including solo, chamber music, and orchestral performances, since appearing in CHANEL Pygmalion Days 2017. Isana Akita, whom Sasanuma deeply trusts, is an artist who transcends the boundaries of classical guitar to play unparalleled music across diverse genres. From the program’s design to its on-site performance, everything is shaped by their collaborative dialogue, offering a unique musical experience available only here.

From Spain to Central and South America—we invite guests on a musical journey woven with passionate rhythms, melancholic melodies, and beautiful harmonies. Please savor the moment when the scenery of unknown lands spreads across your heart through music.
