Yuna Toki

Yuna Toki was born in Chiba Prefecture in 1994. In 2010, she won 1st prize in the junior group of the 6th Novosibirsk International Violin Competition and received the new song award. She placed 1st in the junior division of the 20th New York SMF Concerto Competition. In 2012, she won 1st prize in the senior division at the 12th International Competition for Young Violinists in Honor of K. Lipiński and H. Wieniawski. She is the recipient of the Tokyo Governor's Award. In 2013, she won 3rd prize at the 82nd Music Competition of Japan, and 2nd prize at the same competition the following year.
In addition to performances with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, she has also appeared on NHK-FM's “Recital NOVA” program. She won the Kasama Music Award in 2013 and 2014 at the Courchevel International Music Academy in Kasama. To date, she has studied under Anna Starnovskaya and Akuri Suzuki, and has studies chamber music under Nobuko Yamazaki, Kazuoki Fujii, and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi. She appeared in the 11th and 12th chapters of Chamber Music Concert "Project Q" and Chamber Music Concert at the Toho Gakuen School of Music. She is currently a 1st-year student at Toho Gakuen Graduate School Music Department and is studying under Akiko Tatsumi. She is currently the recipient of a Yamaha Music Foundation scholarship.
