Ren Yoshida
Tenor
Ren Yoshida completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the Kunitachi College of Music and the college’s Graduate School of Music respectively. After completing his studies, he performed at the 81st Annual Concert by Rookie Musicians hosted by the Yomiuri Shimbun.
After completing training at the Tokyo Nikikai Opera Institute with Encouragement and Outstanding Performance awards, he was selected as an understudy for the role of Idomeneo at the Tokyo Nikikai Opera Theater’s production of “Idomeneo” in September 2014. In November of the same year, he performed at the 5th Tokyo Nikikai Opera Institute’s concert “Morning Diva, Divo” at Hakuju Hall. After making his debut at the Tokyo Nikikai Opera Theater’s production of “Il Trovatore” in the role of Un Messo (messenger) in February 2016, he appeared in Scaramuccio in “Ariadne auf Naxos” in November and received excellent reviews for his performance. In July 2017, he played at the Tokyo Nikikai Opera Theater’s production of “Der Rosenkavalier” in the role of Der Haushofmeister bei der Feldmarschallin. In November 2017, he will play Alfred in “Die Fledermaus,” and in February 2018, Vier brabantische Edle in “Lohengrin”.
He has appeared in major roles in various productions including “Così fan tutte,” “Don Giovanni,” “The Marriage of Figaro,” “The Magic Flute,” “Lucia di Lammermoor,” “L'elisir d'amore,” “The Merry Widow” and “Die Fledermaus,” and has performed as a tenor soloist in religious music productions including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. He is a member of the Tokyo Nikikai Opera Foundation.
