Natsumi Tsuboi
Born in New York, USA. Natsumi Tsuboi is currently attending Graduate School of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts and Masters Program at Musik und Kunst Privatuniversitat der Stadt Wien. She obtained Bachelor degree at the Tokyo University of the Arts and has studied with Koichiro Harada, Asako Urushihara, Masafumi Hori and Pavel Vernikov.
She received 1st prize and the audience prize at the 12th Tokyo Music Competition in 2014, 4th prize at the 2015 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, 5th prize at the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in 2018, 3rd prize at the 81st Music Competition of Japan in 2012, and was a semi-finalist at the Sendai International Music Competition in 2016.
She has played with various orchestras including the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Japan Century Symphony Orchestra, Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, Chiba Symphony Orchestra and Geidai Philharmonia Orchestra. She also performs with other musicians in various renowned music festivals in Japan. She has been participating in the Miyazaki International Music Festival since 2014 and the Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy Okushiga, Asia since 2015.
She is the recipient of the 2015/2016 Rome Music Foundation Scholarship, the Ezoe Memorial Foundation and the Meiji Yasuda Quality of Life Cultural Foundation, and performs on a Giuseppe Rocca 1864 violin, on generous loan from the Munetsugu Collection.
