Miki Yamagata
Piano
Born in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture in 2002, Miki Yamagata won the 1st Prize, Nomura Prize, Iguchi Prize, Kawai Prize, Miyake Prize and Argerich Arts Foundation Prize in the piano division of the 89th Music Competition of Japan (2021). She has been selected as the Special Class finalist of the 44th PTNA Piano Competition (2020). She is the first of winning Grand Prix of Kanagawa Classical music Competition both at the Youth Piano division and the Piano division at the same time (2019). In 2018 she won the Nohant Festival’s Chopin Piano Competition in Japan with Nohant prize and performed at the Nohant Chopin Festival in France. She has worked with such ensembles as Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice, Prima Vista String Quartet, Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Her media appearances include “Classic ONGAKUKAN” (NHK Educational TV, Japan) and “Recital Passio” (NHK-FM Radio, Japan). She has been studying under Seizo Azuma and Yukiko Hibiya. Graduated from its attached Music High School, she is currently in the 3rd year of studies at Tokyo University of the Arts with the Munetsugu Tokuji Foundation Special Scholarship.
