Kotaro Nagano
Piano
Kotaro Nagano graduated from the Tokyo Metropolitan Senior High School of Fine Arts, Performing Arts and Classical Music (Piano Division). After graduation, he studied under Dang Thai Son and Claudio Soares and won various prizes and awards including 1st Prize and People’s Choice Prize in the Australian International Chopin Piano Competition and 1st Prize and Special Prize for the best performance of a Taiwanese composition at the Taipei International Chopin Piano Competition. He also won 2nd prize and Special Prize for the best performance of Chopin’s Nocturne at the 2ndInternational Piano Competition Halina Czerny-Stefanska in Memoriam, 1st place in the Tokyo Piano Competition, and was awarded a diploma in the 16th Chopin International Piano Competition. Performing all around the world, he has played in Tokyo, Sydney, Canberra, Warsaw, Montreal, Krakowand Taipei. To date, he has played with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra, Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra and Lomza Chamber Orchestra. Participating in the opening concert of the Chopin Festival in Antonin as the first Japanese musician, he played Chopin Piano Concerto No.1. He is currently an instructor at the Hachioji Music School. CHANEL Pygmalion Days 2010 Artist.
