Hideaki Fujiwara
Cello
Hideaki Fujiwara was born in 1994, in Minami-Alps City in Yamanashi. In 2009, he won the silver prize in the middle-school student division of the 9th Izuminomori Junior Cello Contest. In 2011, he won a prize for the string music section at the 9th Tokyo Music Competition, and he also won the 2nd Tchaikovsky Pianotrio Audition. In 2012, he won the silver prize in the high-school-student-and-above division of the 12th Izuminomori Junior Cello Contest, and placed 3rd in the string music division of the 17th Concert Marronnier 21. In 2013, he won 1st prize in the university cello section of the 67th Student Music Concours of Japan. In 2015, he won the Grand Prize at the 21st Okiden Sugarhall Competition for Debut Concert, and placed 2nd in the string music section for the 13th Tokyo Music Competition. In 2016, he received the 1st prize and the audience prize at the 12th Viva Hall Cello Competition. He received grants in aid for 2014 and 2015 from the Aoyama Foundation. He has performed with the New Japan Philharmonic and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He has performed in masterclasses with Nobuo Furukawa, Daniel Grosguran, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Lluis Claret, Gavriel Lipkind, and Antonio Meneses. He is currently a 4th-year student studying instrument music at the Department of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts, and studies under Ayumu Kuwata, Nobuko Yamazaki, and Kenji Nakagi.
