Gen Tomuro
Pianist Gen Tomuro has graced stages in major concert halls as soloist and as a chamber musician in his native Japan, North, Central and South America and in various cities throughout Europe.
Born in Tokyo, Gen Tomuro spent his early life in San Francisco and in Boston where he attended the Walnut Hill School for the Arts while being the youngest student of world-renowned professor Wha-Kyung Byun at the New England Conservatory of Music.
In 2006, Gen Tomuro met Philippe Entremont with whom Gen went onto study as Entremont’s sole apprentice in Paris. Later in 2018 Gen obtained a Master of Arts with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Since his debut at the age of 18 at the Salle Gaveau with the Orchestre de l’Alliance, Gen Tomuro has played with members of the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Festival Orchestra of Santo Domingo, the Palm Beach Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Cité Universitaire de Paris with members of the Orchestre de Paris, Orchestra of Teatro Giglio and most recently Gen toured with Casco Phil, Chamber Orchestra of Belgium.
In 2022, Gen gave performances in Brussels and in Amsterdam, as well as been selected to participate in the Long-Thibaud International Piano Competition.
Gen's album Gen Tomuro x Francis Poulenc is available worldwide.
