Eri Takimura
Violin
Eri Takimura was born in the city of Kobe, and began studying the violin from age four. She has won numerous major music contests in Japan, taking first place at the 54th Student Music concours of Japan, the 3rd Tokyo Music Competition, the 8th Forval Scholarship Stradivarius Concours, and the 77th Music Competition of Japan. She has performed together with various orchestras, as well as holding solo recitals across the country and playing in many chamber music concerts and music festivals. After attending the Music High School Attached to the Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, she went on to graduate at the top of her class from the Tokyo University of the Arts, and to continue her postgraduate studies at the same university. While at the university, she won the Ataka Prize, Acanthus Music Award, and Mitsubishi Estate Prize. With the support of the Rohm Music Foundation, she completed her
postgraduate studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2013. At Germany's Carl Flesch Academy, she was selected to accompany the Baden-Baden Philharmonic as a soloist. The local Brahms Society awarded her the Brahms Prize for her performance. She has studied under Masako Kida, Takako Murata, Gérard Poulet, Natsumi Tamai, Kiyoshi Okayama, Johannes Meissl, and Dora Schwarzberg. She was a 2009-2010 seasonal member of the Kioi Sinfonietta Tokyo. A registered artist of the Japan Foundation for Regional Art-Activities, she was awarded the Kobe City Award of
Encouragement for Cultural Activities in 2013 and the Hyogo Prefecture Sakai Tokitada Music Award in 2014. She is currently the principal violinist of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. CHANEL Pygmalion Days 2010 Artist.
