Chiharu Sudo

Chiharu Sudo graduated from the department of instrumental music at the Tokyo University of the Arts. While studying at the university, she was awarded the Ariadne Musica Prize and performed with the Geidai Philharmonia Orchestra. She studied at the Berlin University of the Arts on a German government scholarship, graduating with the highest score in her class. She has positioned well in numerous music competitions in Japan and overseas including the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, the International Seiler Piano Competition, the International Music Competition Berlin, and the ASTI International Music Competition. She has played in Leipzig andalso performed at the ‘French Night’ event, and in the 20th Century Sonata series, both of the latter taking place in Berlin.After returning to Japan, Sudo appeared on
stage with a number of well-known performers and Japanese orchestras, performed with various orchestras as a soloist, and also appearing in many musical festivals as a member of various chamber ensembles. In 2014 and 2015, she organised and performed a series of concerts that featured all of the solo piano works of Arnold Schönberg. Since 2017, she has hosted a series of ‘Friday Night Special’ concerts featuring renowned Japanese musicians. She recently released her latest album ‘Camellia’, on King Records, which includes many original compositions.
